The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is the Federal agency for granting U.S. patents and registering trademarks. On this portal, one can apply for trademark and patent, check the status of their application, search for existing trademarks, and much more.
I was assigned the task to look at the Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS) tool and visualize a communication design that would better the user experience of the individual using these tool.
The current TEAS application design presents information and instructions in a manner that is difficult to comprehend. In addition, the visual interface has too many elements making it challenging for the user to identify what action the need to take towards filling the form. The form needed simplicity in communication design that would make the action of form filling intuitive while ensuring the instruction provided would lead to successful application filing.
